The Objectives and Principles of the Small Market Operators Caucus

  • Support of a unified radio and television broadcast community that works for the good of the entire industry, while focusing on those issues specifically affecting the viability and future of radio.
  • Establish a forum to discuss and define regulatory and legislative positions that are in the best interests of radio broadcasting as a whole, and specifically, those stations in rated markets over 150 and un-rated markets. Among the current issues facing the small market radio industry are un-rated market definitions, efforts to localize satellite radio services, indecency legislation and the future of high-definition/digital radio.
  • Provide an established network of relationships that can be quickly activated to provide feedback to the NAB's government relations department and to provide grassroots lobbying support to their lobbying efforts.
  • Provide an opportunity for key legislators, policy makers or vendors to meet with and address the specific needs of the small market radio industry.
  • Promote communication and positive working relationships with the owners and operators of stations in larger markets (Markets 1-150).
  • Provide an active and organized grass roots organization with strong ties to the Members of Congress representing small market broadcasters.
